£4.79

Out of stock

Cheerful golden turnips that are sweet in flavour
A lovely, sweet flavoured turnip that’ll store well. They’re quick growing and ready to harvest when the roots are about the size of a golf ball, between November and March. Once harvested, store them in a cool dark place. Perfect for warming winter casseroles and so much tastier than shop bought turnips. You will receive a complete growing guide with your turnip plants. They are very easy to grow in autumn and winter.

Number of plants: 10 plug plants

Variety: Golden Ball (organic*)

In the kitchen: These turnips are great in casseroles and stews or even slow roasted.

Delivery Info: Available to order now for delivery between September and mid/late October. Please see FAQs for up-to-date delivery info. Planting/Growing Advice: Plant in autumn approx 20-30cm apart in raised beds, traditional veg patches or in pots and planters. They will grow quite quickly while the weather is relatively warm in autumn, and then will slow down in the colder months. They are frost tolerant and will grow happily outside. Protect from pigeons and slugs. When to harvest: You can expect to be able to harvest in early spring (or sooner if it is mild). Wait until you can see that the crown has reached golf ball size, and then harvest anytime after that. You can leave them in the ground over winter and harvest as you want to use them. *Transplants suitable for organic growing.
