Purple Sage (Autumn)

Out of stock

Gorgeous shades of purple and green

This is such a beautiful variety of sage that looks fab growing in a herb bed or in the borders, providing purple and green foliage all year round. The bees will love the flowers that come out in summer. Great for stuffings, paired with squash, and to flavour nut roasts. Our Purple Sage plug plants are ready to be planted straight away.

Number of plants: 3

Variety: Purple (organic*)

In the kitchen: Sage is traditionally used with pork, cheese and mushroom dishes and will make wonderful stuffings. The flowers are edible too and can be used to dress summer salads.

The right site

Shelter and well drained soil are the two key things for sage.

Can be grown in....

Large containers or raised beds.

How far apart?

50cm apart or one plant to a large pot.

Looking after your plants....

As long as you give sage what it needs – a little shelter and well drained soil – you will be able to harvest it at any time of the year.

Cut back before autumn

A little trim at the end of the summer will keep your sage plant nice and bushy.

Watering them

Sage does not need much watering and does not like to be waterlogged.

Sage can be used in loads of dishes and you don’t need to use very much of it.
