  • red russian kale

    In the kitchen: Red Russian Kale is the sweetest of the kale types. An incredibly nutritious vegetable, it can be enjoyed steamed, baked in a gratin or used in stir-fries, stews or even smoothies.

    Plant out: late April to July/Aug. These plants will arrive bare-rooted with an approximate height of 10-15 cm.

  • Padron Pepper

    Some are hot, most are not!
    Padron Peppers are becoming so popular with foodies, and for good reason. They are simply delicious freshly harvested, stir fried in a generous glug of olive oil with a pinch of Cornish Sea Salt. Every so often you’ll come across one that is hot, but most are lovely and mild and so tasty. They are a must grow!

    Variety: Padron (organic*)

    In the kitchen: Best fried in olive oil until the skin blisters, then sprinkle with sea salt.

    Can be grown in: Chillies and peppers are best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel, planted in fresh compost in either growbags or pots.

    An unusual, but striking and tasty addition to your veg patch

    Although popular in Europe, Kohl Rabi is not that common a vegetable in the UK. It tastes somewhere between a cabbage and turnip. Kohl Rabi ‘Delicacy Purple’ is an early maturing purple variety with round shaped stems and good quality, delicate flesh. It is resistant to and bolting and stem splitting. Kohl Rabi is a fairly quick crop to grow and you can start picking from when the bulb is larger than 5cm in size.
