- Harvest 3-4 weeks after sowing (pull one or two up to check size)
- Don’t leave them in the ground once they are ready as they won’t keep well in the soil. It is better to harvest them.
- Store radishes in the fridge for several days.

How to Plant Radishes
- Choose a sunny, sheltered spot that doesn’t get too waterlogged.
- You can grow radishes in the ground or in pots.
- Use your finger or a stick to make a 2cm deep row in the soil. Sow seeds 3-5cm apart, then cover with soil and water.
- Radishes are fast growing so can easily be grown in between rows of slower growing crops like parsnips and celeriac.
- It’s a good idea to stagger sowings – sow half in early/mid spring and the rest 2-3 weeks later

How to Grow Radishes
- During dry spells, water well to prevent the soil from drying out and to keep the soil a little cooler.
- Keep them weed-free as much as possible. Using an onion hoe for regular weeding is best as this allows you to get in amongst the plants without disturbing their roots.
Common Pests & Problems with Radishes
- Flea Beetle – if you see tiny holes in leaves, this is likely to be flea beetle. These bugs become more active in hot, dry conditions so try to keep radishes well watered to avoid the soil drying out. You can also cover with fleece. However, the radishes underneath should be totally fine, so a few holes here and there is no disaster.
- Slugs – when seedlings are young they are attractive to slugs and snails so be sure to protect them with some beer traps etc
