Container Garden Veg Patch Experience (Gift Voucher)
Perfectly formed and surprisingly productive
If you’re looking to wow a loved one who is short on space but loves the good life, then this garden is just a perfect choice. With a clever assortment of vegetable plants that grow quickly and take up as little space as possible, they’ll soon be harvesting their own delicious ingredients straight from their little garden. And it’s easy too…they don’t need any gardening experience as the voucher shows them how to plant their pots and we’ll include a handy guide for them to follow when they receive their plants in spring.
Once activated, this voucher entitles them to:
- A delivery of organic veg plants to grow (see below)
- A complete growing guide with advice on how to plant and look after their veg.
- Regular gardening tips by email
Space required: 2m2 (or 10-15 pots)
Plants can be delivered from: May to Late July (they can activate their voucher at any time)
Can be grown in: Any combination of pots and containers, grow bags, raised beds
Please note that the contents of this garden may vary slightly depending upon the season.
Get your seedlings ready to plant...
When your plants arrive, they will need to be unpacked and watered before they are ready to plant. Follow our three step guide below:
1. Unpack your plants
As soon as possible after your plants arrive, carefully unpack them all. Most plants will be carefully laid in labelled punnets. Some may look a little tired after their journey but this is nothing to worry about.
2. Give them a drink
The roots may be dry, so give them all a good drink of water by standing the plants upright and submerging the roots for a few minutes in a container of clean water. We’d recommend doing this punnet by punnet so that you don’t get the plants muddled up.
3. Pop them back in their punnets
Once the roots are sufficiently moist, stand the plants up in their punnet – it is sensible to keep the labelled sleeve with the punnet so that you can easily identify the seedlings when you are ready to plant them.
At this point you can either plant them if your garden is ready, or if you need to wait a few days you can add a few handfuls of compost to cover the roots in the punnet and keep them on a windowsill or in a greenhouse. More info on that is here.
3 steps to success...
When you’re ready to plant your Rocket Garden there’s a very simple 3 step process to planting them; whether you’re planting in pots, containers, grow bags, raised beds or straight into the ground.
1. Dig a hole
Using a trowel or a dibber (basically a pointed stick) make a hole big enough in the soil to fit the roots of your baby plant and ideally sprinkle in a handful of wormcast fertiliser. This will give your plants a great start in their new home and help to feed them throughout the growing season.
2. Pop the plant in
Carefully place the plant into the hole, making sure it is standing upright.
3. Fill the hole with soil
Cover up the roots of the plant using some of the soil you took out to make the hole, allowing the leaves or green shoots of the plant to remain out in the open. Then firm the soil around the base of the plant with your hands.
