Maris Peer Seed Potatoes (Second Early)

(10 Tubers)

Delivery Info: Available to order now for delivery in Feb/Mar. Please see FAQs for up-to-date delivery info.

Planting/Growing Advice: Plant in early spring approx 10cm apart in pots, containers, raised beds and any traditional veg patches. Make sure the soil/compost has good drainage.

When to harvest: When the leaves start to turn yellow you can check to see if they are ready to harvest. You may be able to tell if they are ready from the crown of the bulb peeping above the surface of the soil. If not, carefully dig one or two up to have a look with a hand fork.

*Transplants suitable for organic growing.

A trusted favourite & good for planting late…
This amazingly popular variety produces reliably regular round shaped and medium sized potatoes. They will normally be ready to harvest in July, and since the texture remains firm they are particularly well suited to boiling. One of the things we like about them is that you can choose to plant them a bit later in the year for a Christmas crop – if you’d like to do this, store the seed potatoes in a dry paper sack (with a few holes for air circulation) in a cool, dark place and plant them in July. Otherwise, pop them in the ground in March/April after chitting and harvest in July.

Number of tubers (seed potatoes): 10

Variety: Maris Peer

In the kitchen: This variety has many uses including boiling for salads, steaming and chipping.
