    Growing carrots is one of the most rewarding things to do in your kitchen garden…there is just something so satisfying about pulling them up and washing off all the soil so that you can cook them. These Nantes Carrots have a lovely sweet flavour. They’re a bit of a classic in the carrot world, and you can expect to get a size around 6 inches out of them. Plant your carrots plants in early/mid September for a harvest in time for Christmas! If the weather starts to get a bit chilly/frosty – cover outside plants with a fleece or grow them in a greenhouse.

    There’s just something about the shape and colour of Chantenay carrots that makes them so appealing and pleasing to harvest. As the name suggests, these are a lovely deep red-orange in the centre. Growing Chantenay carrots from plug plants is really easy – the plants will arrive as plug plants and you can simply plant them into well dug soil or containers.     A lovely, sweet flavoured turnip that’ll store well. They’re quick growing and ready to harvest when the roots are about the size of a golf ball, between November and March. Once harvested, store them in a cool dark place. Perfect for warming winter casseroles and so much tastier than shop bought turnips. You will receive a complete growing guide with your turnip plants. They are very easy to grow in autumn and winter.

    This cylindrical beetroot has a very fine, smooth texture with little fibre. The root maintains its sweetness and tenderness over a long growing season and does not get woody. The roots stand proud above the soil, but can be earthed up and will remain in good condition for a long period. Best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel if planted in autumn.

    Crunchy long radishes, quite mild in flavour

    This variety produces long, dark pink radishes with a white tip. They typically reach 6cm in length and have a slightly less peppery flavour than your traditional radish but with all the crispy, crunchy texture. Plant them in well drained soil either in sun or partial shade and water regularly. Refer to the growing guide that comes with the guide for tips on planting and maintaining your radish plants.
