    Loading your veg patch with spring onions is such a good idea. You can really pack them in as they hardly take up any space – you could easily grow them in a window box as long as they get a good dose of sunlight. As the name suggests, they’ll be ready to harvest in early spring. You may have several seedlings per plug – these can be planted together in a clump, no problem. You’ll receive a complete growing guide with you plug plants.

    In the kitchen: Spring onions are fab chopped up and thrown into a stir fry with some oriental leaves or in a delicious salad.

    Planting/Growing Advice: Plant in autumn approx 10cm apart in raised beds, traditional veg patches or in pots and planters.

    When to harvest: Harvest once the stems are about pencil thick and you can see the bulb crown at surface level, this is likely to be from December to February depending on the weather.
