If your veg plug plants are due to arrive with you soon, you won’t need to harden them off. The temperatures are consistent enough now that the plants should be fine to be planted straight out. That said, if the weather is particularly cold or windy, then some more tender crops, like tomatoes, cucumbers and squashes will need a little extra care if planting outside.
We would recommend covering the following plants with fleece or a cloche if you are planting outside and it is still coat weather!
(If you are planting in a greenhouse, you do not need to worry, this is only for planting outside)
- Beans – French, Runner & Borlotti
- Peas – Mangetout, Sugarsnap, Garden
- Sweetcorn
- Winter Squash & Pumpkin
- Summer Squash/Courgette
- Cucumber
- Tomato
- Aubergine
- Chilli/Pepper
