This is a fantastic climbing squash – You can either eat the fruits like courgettes whilst they are still small – they taste quite similar – or leave them to grow and further ripen before storing them in much the same way as winter squash. When used as a winter squash, they have a milder flavour than butternut. You’ll find you get loads from just one plant! As a climber, you’ll need to have space for it to sprawl along the ground (a dedicated raised bed is perfect) or a sturdy trellis/fence for the plants to climb.
