When to plant seed potatoes

We’re now shipping our seed potatoes for 2020 so that you can start chitting them. Whilst that’s happening, you can warm your soil ready for them to be planted.

You can plant potatoes from as early as late February if it is mild enough and you have warmed your soil, and you can continue planting up until early/mid May. As a rough guide, if you are chitting your potatoes and warming your soil, then we would recommend planting them between late February and Late March, once the shoots reach about 3cm long. If you are not chitting them or warming the soil, then we would suggest you wait until it is a little warmer out before popping them in the ground in April or May.
