    Easy to grow, decorative and delicious
    Freckles is easy to grow from our lovely young plug plants. It is heat tolerant, crisp and bolt resistant. Freckles is unlike any romaine lettuce you will see. It has bright green leaves that look like someone splattered painted burgundy spots all over them! A lovely variety. Growing lettuces from plug plants is easy – you can grow them in pots or beds – just follow the instructions in the growing guide that you will receive with your plants.

    A frizzy, frilly feast of a plant! Harvest the young leaves as a cut-and-come-again to add a punchy flavour and a good crunch to salads, or wait until the whole head has matured.     Musselburgh produces huge, handsome leeks with thick stems and dark green leaves. It is reliable, easy to grow, winter hardy, with good disease resistance and an excellent strong flavour. It will be ready for harvesting late summer to early winter. It’s easy to grow leeks from plug plants – just follow the instructional leaflet that will arrive with your plug plants.

    Lollo Rossa lettuce forms tight frilly maroon heads. You can wait and harvest the whole plant, or pick a few leaves here and there as needed.     Attractive, delicious salad leaves

    Mizuna is a cut-and-come-again Oriental salad leaf with deeply cut, spicy flavoured leaves. It is easy to grow and well worth having in your salad patch. Harvest the leaves regularly so that the plant continues to grow for many weeks. If you grow these plants in a slightly shaded spot, they will last even longer without bolting early. Mizuna plug plants make it easy to get going – no fussing with seeds! Just follow the advice in the growing guide when your plants arrive.

    One of the prettiest lime-green varieties of multi leaf lettuces. It is the shiny-green sister of Lollo Rosso. This variety has extremely frizzy, crinkled and compact leaves. Growing lettuces from plug plants is incredibly easy – just plant up in beds or pots and keep them well watered and protected from slugs.     Loading your veg patch with spring onions is such a good idea. You can really pack them in as they hardly take up any space. They grow quite quickly during the spring and summer months too so you’ll be able to plant something else in their place later in the season.     Packs a flavoursome punch!

    These leaves have a fab flavour, giving a mustardy punch to salads and other dishes. You can start harvesting as soon as the leaves reach 5-10cm and if you keep picking off the leaves it will keep producing more for you to enjoy right through the summer months and into autumn.

    In the kitchen: The texture is crunchy yet tender with a robust mustard flavour and mildly sweet and spicy pepper-like finish. The young leaves are mild and best used raw in a salad, but more mature leaves stand up well to a light sauté or braise.

    Cut & come again salad leaves

    If you love wild rocket and mizuna, then mibuna is an excellent plant to add to your salad patch crops. It is a little more mustardy in flavour. Great for sun or shade, and perfect for pots as you can grow them close together, about 10-15cm apart.

    In the kitchen: Use in salads, or cook lightly (chuck it in a stir-fry just before serving, or toss it through cooked rice/pasta so that it lightly steams)

    Spring Cabbage

    An easy growing, loose-leafed cabbage

    This is a dwarf variety that can be planted quite close together (25-30cm). When planted in spring you can expect to harvest it from July through to September. Alternatively, plant later and you can harvest later! You can harvest them as delicious, small, tender cabbages or a little later on once the heads have matured. A very useful plant to grow if you struggle to get other cabbages to form a firm heart. Our plug plants make it easy to grow, just follow the advice in the growing guide that comes with the plants.
