Our cabbage plug plants are suitable for growing in most UK vegetable gardens. Cabbages will do best in raised beds or traditional plots, but can be grown in large containers.

  • Brussels Sprouts – Evesham Special

    Perfect for a festive harvest
    This traditional variety produces large quantities of medium size, solid sprouts which, if planted in early spring, will crop from October to Christmas. If you plant them later in the year, say June or July, you can expect a crop from December through to February. Sprouts are easy to grow, just remember to earth them up a little to keep them stable on windy days. Harvest them individually from the bottom of the stalk upwards, or pull up a whole stalk. Our plug plants make it very easy to get going, and your plants will come with a complete growing guide.

    This collection contains a selection of cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and kale plug plants for you to grow. The plants can be planted in early spring for an autumn harvest, or in mid to late summer to grow over autumn and harvest in winter. Brassica plants grow particularly well in raised beds – we’d advise growing them all in one or two raised beds together, so that you can cover them with mesh netting to keep pests at bay.   • Red Cabbage – Red Drumhead

    An easy to grow red cabbage
    This variety will produce a good sized red cabbage that you can feel very proud of having grown yourself! The leaves have a lovely blue tinge, but the hearts themselves are a deep cabbage red. They are great-looking plants in the vegetable garden. Firm them in well when planting and try to keep them cool by watering frequently.   • Savoy Cabbage – Vertus

    Easy to grow, hardy and delicious
    This variety of savoy cabbage has rounded heads of dark green ruffled leaves that have a more subtle flavour compared to other savoy cabbages, slightly less bitter. It’s a very hardy variety and stands well without splitting. Best grown in beds, but it can be grown in large pots too.     This cabbage variety will give you crisp thick leaves, with a crunchy texture when shredded. Firm the plants in really well when you plant the cabbage plug plants, and keep the plants well protected from slugs, pigeons and butterflies.   • Spring Green Cabbage

    An easy growing, loose-leafed cabbage

    This is a dwarf variety that can be planted quite close together (25-30cm). When planted in spring you can expect to harvest it from July through to September. Alternatively, plant later and you can harvest later! You can harvest them as delicious, small, tender cabbages or a little later on once the heads have matured. A very useful plant to grow if you struggle to get other cabbages to form a firm heart. Our plug plants make it easy to grow, just follow the advice in the growing guide that comes with the plants.
