A great spinach alternative

Mild in flavour with brilliant purple leaves, orach makes a colourful alternative to spinach and will brighten up any salad bowl. These are fast growing plants that produce two-toned red/purple leaves through summer. The plants can grow tall (up to 2.5m) and are best planted in a bed or border, but will do okay in a large patio container too.

I noticed that the bay tree has done some good growing and it's now shading out even more of the raised bed that runs beside it. You do need to keep harvesting regularly though.
