Easy to grow and deliciously tasty
These turnip plants grow very quickly, and in just a few weeks you’ll have some lovely, golf-ball sized turnips to harvest! They are a salad type, perfect for grating or slicing finely to add some crunch to summer salads, or throw them into a casserole. Suitable for all UK plots, whether you’re growing in beds or pots, these plug plants make it very easy to grow your own turnips and you will receive a complete growing guide with your delivery.

In the kitchen: Try grating raw turnip into salads, or add to casseroles, stir-fries or roast them up with some olive oil and sea salt.

Planting advice: Plant plugs 30-40cm apart. Protect from slugs, butterflies and pigeons. Harvesting: You should be able to see the root forming in late summer/autumn. Harvest when it reaches the right size.

Watch they don't get waterlogged

In areas of heavy rainfall plant your seedlings in ridges to help with drainage. Otherwise plant on flat ground which has been well worked and consolidated.

Water plants well after planting and during periods of dry weather.

You can store them in a cool dark place (in a sand box is best.)

Ways to cook

Add turnips to any casserole or stew, or pop into a root veg soup. It mashes well too.

Do I need to sign for them?
All our vegetable plug plant orders are dispatched with an overnight courier* to mainland UK and do not need to be signed for when they are delivered, but will be left somewhere safe. When placing your order, please let us know where you would like the plug plants left if you are not in when the courier delivers.
